credentialing

 

credentialing is the process used to verify schooling and other training for physicians, therapists, chiropractors, physician assistant and advanced nurse practitioners, as examples.  managed care and insurance companies, medicare and medicaid intermediaries, and hospitals require this process basing their decision on national committee for quality assurance (ncqa) standards.

 

generally, an application is required with supporting documentation, such as copies of medical licenses, malpractice insurance coverage, and school diplomas.  upon receipt of this information, the organization does “prime source” verification, using either an online data source or direct contact with the agency issuing the document – medical license for example.

 

the medical practitioner needs to monitor the progress of the application to make sure all of the necessary information has been supplied and make sure the application is moving toward committee review.  i can provide assistance in the completion of the form(s), gathering the necessary information to support the application and monitor the progress of the application through the verification process.
